For Your Amusement: My Political Compass

April 7, 2009

I took the political compass test at this site.

My scores are:
Economic Left/Right: -6.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92

Below I’ve overlain the image of my score and that of some more prominent leaders.

It’s nice being in the vacinity of Gandhi.

I guess I could challenge my readers to do the same on their own blogs and post links in the comments.

Fun quiz, and interesting site. I live in right over the border in the purple.

These 2D political maps are far better than the 1D (straight line with left right). The improve dialogue. Libertarians (who live off the 1D line) first developed these.

    Another Site’s spin

This sitedoes a fascinating analysis of votes in Congress using this chart.

    Anyone know of other quizzes?

I find a disproportionate number of atheists are not libertarian, but instead democrats (liberal government interventionist) which I find ironic. Do others find this odd?

Done it, but not sure how to overlay accurately.
    Here are my results anyway:

    Economic Left/Right: -6.25
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.97

I used Gimp and just made all the white on one of the images transparent.

Yep but I’m not sure if the graphs are the same size – look at the center cross of the famous peeps one. Surely that should reach the ends of the center cross on the personal one?

I’m not sure, but that level of accuracy isn’t really important for something like this, IMO.

Uh oh.. somebody is moving to the right.

I know. It sort of scared me a bit. But maybe it’ll go back once my brain calms down :P

Ooops, in my above note, the links don’t stand out. (is this a problem with wordpress, or this template?)
    So here they are again:

    Clickhere three !

It’s this template. Hopefully people realize the darker text is a link otherwise so many posts have been less funny. Like when I mention Jean-Luc Picard.

      • April 7, 2009 5:31 pm

Actually, on my FireFox, the script does NOT show up darker. So with this template, I imagine lots of folks are missing links. Just a thought.

Ok fine, you guys win. I’ve changed the link color to maroon. :P

Laughing ! Fantastic — looks great ! Nice to know even some atheists can be open-minded. (with a sarcastic snicker).

Took the test yesterday when you mentioned it on Twitter.

    Left: -8.62
    Libertarian: -8.36

  7. April 7, 2009 3:03 pm

    Economic Left/Right: -7.38
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.79

I had as much fun with some of the thought storms that various questions caused as with finding the result.

Wow, looks like economically I am nowhere near most of you but socially right in line. Browsing through that site I found a chart mapping the 2008 primary candidates and they with few exceptions were in the upper right box.

    Economic Left/Right: -0.50
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.54

About a nice place to land! I probably fit in right around there too… maybe a lil more towards center… of course it all depends on what subject we are referring to.

    Enjoying our conversations btw…
